Club News

From David Harris, General Manager:

Happy New Year from everyone at Hampton Court Palace Golf Club. We hope you had a great Christmas and New Year and are ready for 2022!

Once again, we would like to say thank you to everyone who visited us over the past year, we really appreciate your business and thank you for being patient with us. Covid has been incredibly difficult in terms of staffing levels but we hope that 2022 will improve and we can get back to normality. Let’s hope for a wonderful year of golf ahead in 2022!

Course News

Carl Sharp has taken the reigns as Course Manager with his Deputy, Max Makurji. The team have worked hard over the winter to keep the course in the best possible condition and you will notice that our micro tineing has continued to help improve the playing surfaces mainly on tees, approaches and greens.

New Approaches – these have all been marked out and will be re-shaped when cut to add more character to each hole.

Bunker Renovation Program – this project started this week and will see bunkers on 18th, 1st and 17th completed. Below shows the pictures of the work taking place and will make a huge difference when playing.

Carl plans to hand cut where possible on tees and greens as it will result in a sharper cut and all golfers will notice the difference. Please be patient if you see our team on the course, they will do their best to move out of your way whilst you play but are also trying to get the course in the best condition for you.

Captains’ Update

The Captains’ have announced that this year’s charity will be Momentum Children Charity – https://www.momentumcharity.org/ As we explained in previous newsletters – the whole club will now focus on one charity where we hope everyone will get behind and help push to raise some great awareness and funds for a fantastic cause. Our team at the club will also be right behind the Captains and will help with the organisation of various events. Our staff will be helping to promote the charity in the clubhouse, and all of the money raised will go directly to Momentum.

Mens, Ladies and Stag competitions can now be seen on the website once you log in, please put the key dates in your diary along with, of course, our very own 2022 Race To Le Touquet.

Community Outreach

From Yvonne Brooke, Community Development Officer: Over the last month the team have been finalising our Partner Charities and Schools for 2022.

We will be launching the partnerships in January but would like to thank all the Captain’s, of all the sections at each site for their time on this process. They will be working together to raise funds, awareness, share the workload and increase the local impact of their chosen charity.

We will have 8 local charities to support and are making a commitment for the next three years. We hope this will bring the membership together for a common cause, create some great social interactions throughout the year, and embed the chosen group within the club.

Get Golfing hopes to enhance the great work our members do in raising valuable funds for local charities by offering support to both the charities and the amazing members and volunteers at our sites.

Along with Anthony Nolan as our Group Charity we look forward to having a great impact on our local communities and becoming hubs for a wide variety of activities and community groups.
